Frequently Asked Questions

We've compiled a list of answers to common questions.

  • What do I need to do to activate the Sentry Integrated Mk2 product?

Full installation instructions are provided but may be also downloaded from our web-site. Connect devices ensuring the battery switch is in the ON position to activate the backup system. The product will provide power even if the switch is in the OFF position, but battery backup will not be enabled.

  • How do I test the Sentry Integrated Mk2 product?

Simply switch off the mains adaptor. The unit will generate an audible indication that mains power has been lost and connected devices remain operational. To ensure adequate battery charge, It is recommended to allow the battery to charge for 3-6 hours after first installation.

  • The ALERT LED is flashing. What does this mean?

The ALERT LED, and accompanying periodic audible beep, is indicative of a detected battery fault. In the first instance, ensure that the battery switch is on the ON position. Otherwise reset power to the unit by un-powering all sources, including solar or battery expansion units if connected, and following the Quick Start steps above. If the alert persists then this indicates a poor battery and replacement is highly recommended. Please consult the Constant Vigil support team.

  • Can I replace the battery myself or does the unit need to be returned for service?

The battery can be replaced very easily, requiring a single pozi-drive screwdriver. Full instructions are available on our website.

  • Can the audible sound be muted?

An audible alert is mandatory and can not be muted.

  • The Sentry Integrated Mk2 unit does not provide enough outage support time. What can I do?

All batteries deteriorate with time and periodic testing/replacement is recommended. The Sentry Integrated Mk2 unit is designed to provide 3-5 hours of typical support time but this can vary depending on connected devices and battery age. Where additional support times are required, we recommend connection of solar panels and/or the Sentry Battery Expansion unit.

  • Something has gone wrong. How do I return the unit?

Whilst the Sentry Integrated Mk2 product is designed for years of unmonitored backup support, sometimes things do go wrong. Disconnect the Sentry product, and return to us ensuring the battery switch is in the OFF position.
